Ancient statue of goddess Isis discovered in ancient city of Satala

Archaeologists have discovered a bronze bust of the goddess Isis, opening up a portrait of ancient history and art in Türkiye.

Satala, located near the village of Sadak, was once the headquarters of Legio XV Apollinaris, one of the main Roman legions stationed in Anatolia. Photo: @Karadeniz Technical University.

Further analysis of the metallurgy and style of work will help archaeologists pinpoint the exact date and origin of the workshop where it was made.
