While feeling discouraged and planning to quit acting to find another less strenuous job, comedian Chien Thang was encouraged by artist Xuan Hinh to make the CD "Talking Bad About Wife" and was successful, continuing to persevere in his career.

- Lately, comedian Chien Thang seems to be in hiding, no performance activities posted on his personal page?

I can barely breathe while performing, let alone find time to hide (laughs). Before Tet, I performed for more than 3 months in all the provinces and cities invited by a unit. Now it’s the same, I have up to 25 performances a month.

I don't like noise, I do everything quietly. I don't post pictures on my personal page, but wherever I perform, the audience still livestreams and takes pictures to post on various platforms, which is proof that I'm still working hard. My personal page is only for posting fun information to relax and is set to friends mode.

- Social networks are developing, without using technology to interact with the audience, are you afraid your name will be forgotten?

I have been in this profession for decades, and it is no longer important to become famous, but only focus on performing well, to bring good products to the public.

There are many units inviting me to cooperate, create my own channel to post videos every day to interact with the audience as a way to earn more income, but I refuse. I am a careful person, I have to think carefully before doing anything. I am most afraid of boredom. I want the audience to accept it in a surprising way, if it is the same, I don't like it.

Social media can make your name famous but sometimes you lose your career because of it. Therefore, I choose to live a simple life to have peace.

- But many artists who create channels on social networks earn quite a lot of money?

I think that's the general trend of the times. We live in the 4.0 era, of course content on digital platforms will be easier to reach audiences and will grow.

The fact that many people create content and perform skits on social networks is also following that trend. Any trend or phenomenon that occurs is due to the law of "where there is supply, there is demand", the content and skits must be loved by the audience to be produced in large quantities.

I don't know about the income of other artists on social media platforms. As for me, my income mainly comes from performing regularly, still receiving love from the audience and being able to make a living from acting.

In my free time, I also surf TikTok for entertainment, take care of my family and rest, but I don't have time to produce content on digital platforms.

- The peak of Chien Thang's career must have been from the series "Badmouthing his wife"?

No, it was a time of crisis, I wanted to quit acting to find another job that was less difficult. At that time, I went to a recording studio with the intention of recording a few songs as a souvenir. The studio owner told me to say something funny into the microphone and see how it was, so I read the work " Bad Talking About Wife" which I had just written a few days ago.

I said it innocently, but I didn't expect that a few days later, Cho Gioi would release a whole CD of my voice. At that time, tapes, CDs, and newspapers were being sold on loudspeakers all over the streets, and my voice could be heard in every corner. It turned out that the studio had printed the CDs for sale. The stalls at Cho Gioi used the title Xuan Hinh - Badmouthing Wife , causing many people to misunderstand that this was a work by artist Xuan Hinh. I didn't care because I thought I had retired, so why bother explaining.

One day I unexpectedly met artist Xuan Hinh, he blamed me: " You talk bad about your wife, why don't you use your name but use my name. Wherever I go, people say Mr. Hinh talks bad about his wife ." Mr. Hinh encouraged me to continue with Talk Bad About Wife 2 , so there were greetings like: " My name is Lo Van Son. I'm short and small but talented. My father is Lo Van Sai. He sells alcohol on Lieu Giai street near my house... ". When Talk Bad About Wife 2 was released, the audience warmly welcomed it, which was the motivation for me to continue my acting career. From here, my career continued to grow.

- You performed many skits "Badmouthing your wife", does it affect your personality?

Oh, whoever acts a lot will have something come true and their personality will die (laughs). I am quiet but cheerful and sociable. On my personal page, I like to update humorous things that make people laugh, I don't like complaining or thinking negatively. I have never participated in a story about gossiping about a colleague with anyone, let alone my wife.

- You perform so much, does your wife complain?

Once, an audience asked: " Does this guy crave money to perform so much? ". I answered directly: " In this world, who doesn't crave money ?". I often joke that the most dangerous disease that doctors can't cure is "meningitis". Everyone has their own life, I don't do bad things, I earn money with my sweat and effort, there's nothing to be afraid of. And my wife, more than anyone, understands that, so she doesn't complain.

I have never let my wife and children lack anything. I don't smoke, don't drink, perform all day, and spend little. I earn money just to take care of my wife and children and give them a good life.

- Do any of your children follow your career?

My eldest son is 25 years old, graduated with a degree in English, found a job on his own, is very obedient and doesn't bother his father. The second daughter is in 9th grade, the third son is in 1st grade and the youngest daughter is 4 years old and is going to kindergarten this year. They all understand the situation of their father having to take "3 ferries", so every time they meet, they play happily, without distance or discrimination.

Having been through three wives, I used to blame my life for being so miserable, but everyone has their own circumstances and fate, so I am satisfied with my current life. After many events, my wife and I have both grown up and become more mature.

In particular, the third son has an artistic bent. He actively participates in the school's performing arts team. Pursuing art is indeed hard work, but after all, any profession that wants to earn money is arduous. However, pursuing art has the advantage of playing musical instruments and flutes all day long, which is also a "medicine" to balance the pressures. Therefore, my husband and I agreed to let him develop naturally, without forcing him.
