From the afternoon of August 20, a series of universities across the country are expected to announce their admission scores for 2025. This year, the general consensus is that admission scores for many majors will decrease due to the decrease in high school graduation exam scores.
However, with the new virtual filtering rule, the 2025 benchmark is still considered difficult to predict by many schools.

Looking back at the 2024 admissions season, it can be seen that the race to get into university has become more fierce, especially for majors with sky-high admission scores.
According to Dan Tri statistics, in 2024, there will be 117 majors/specializations with a benchmark score of 28 points or higher, an impressive number that is more than 4 times higher than in 2023. This means that to be admitted, candidates must achieve an average of at least 9.34 points/subject.
Topping the rankings are two majors of Hanoi National University of Education: Literature Pedagogy and History Pedagogy, both achieving 29.3 points.
Next are the social sciences and journalism majors: Chinese Studies of the Diplomatic Academy (29.2 points); Public Relations of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (29.1 points).
The next three majors, each with 29.05 points, are divided equally among the three schools: Geography Education, International Communication, and Korea.
It is worth noting that if in 2023 the pedagogical group only appeared 5 times in this list, then in 2024 this number skyrocketed to 43 times, dominating absolutely.
The attraction of majors such as history pedagogy, literature pedagogy, geography pedagogy, English pedagogy... shows the strong return of this major.
In general, the benchmark scores for the pedagogical group and the majors with admission combinations in block C tend to be high.

A surprising development in the 2024 admissions season is the "drop in rank" of majors that once held a "monopoly" position. The computer science (advanced program) major of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, which led in 2023 with 29.42 points, has dropped to 44th place with a score of 28.53.
Notably, after a year of absence, Hanoi Medical University returned to the list with two majors above 28 points. But the shocking thing is that psychology (C00) scored 28.83 points, surpassing the traditional medical major, which only scored 28.27 points.
This shows a big change in candidates' industry trends and fierce competition not only in the familiar "top" industries.

In general, with a high standard score like in 2024, many good candidates, with an average score of 9 points/subject, will still "fall like figs" and have to sadly fail their wishes.

In general, regarding the benchmark scores in 2025, many education experts believe that the average score will decrease slightly due to the decrease in high school graduation exam scores in most subjects, especially math and English. At the same time, the percentage of candidates achieving good and excellent scores (7 or higher) will also decrease significantly compared to 2024.
Due to the lower average exam scores, the benchmark score by considering high school graduation exam scores of schools can decrease by 1 to 2 points, or even more in some majors with admission combinations of subjects with low score ranges.
Although the general score range has decreased, the benchmark scores of "hot" majors at top schools are still expected to remain high, especially in the pedagogical sector.
