According to Al Jazeera , the explosion occurred at a glue factory in the Malikpur area of Faisalabad city, Punjab province, at around 5:00 a.m. on November 21. Pakistani media reported that the explosion caused the factory to collapse and caused a fire in nearby houses.

Pakistan's Aaj TV reported that the blast destroyed the roof of the factory and several nearby homes, causing fires in at least three homes. Images posted showed flames erupting from the scene and rescue workers trying to extinguish the blaze.
At least 16 people, including six children, were killed and seven others injured in the explosion at the plant. Most of the dead were residents of nearby houses. Rescue teams were trying to find people buried in the rubble, Geo News reported. Seven injured people are being treated at a nearby hospital.
Local media quoted Faisalabad City Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar as saying that a preliminary investigation showed a gas leak inside the factory's chemical warehouse caused the explosion.
Authorities have arrested the factory manager but are still searching for the owner, who fled shortly after the incident.
