Car explosion, one person injured

Ho Chi Minh City: A 4-seat car parked in front of a house in District 12 exploded, causing severe burns to a woman. Police seized suspected explosives in the car.

People living in a residential area on TX25 Street, Thanh Xuan Ward, on the afternoon of May 13 heard a loud explosion coming from a 4-seater car, with smoke billowing from inside the car.

Because the car door was locked, some people used a hammer to break the door and take the 45-year-old woman, who was severely burned and unconscious, to the emergency room. "The explosion was very loud, I thought the battery in the car exploded," said Mr. Tai, who lives near the scene.

Dozens of police, mobile police and bomb disposal units were dispatched to the scene. Authorities seized a device suspected to be an explosive in the driver's seat.

According to local residents, the victim rented a house to live with a man about 50 meters from the scene of the incident. Recently, the two had been having conflicts and jealousy.

The cause of the explosion is being investigated by authorities.
