Van Tien Poetry Festival for union members, youth and students was held on the occasion of the birthday of Celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu.

Accordingly, the folk performing art of Van Tien Poetry, Ben Tre province (now Vinh Long province) was included in the List of national intangible cultural heritage.

The folk performance of Van Tien Poetry was born in Ben Tre and developed to its peak around 1975 with the purpose of popularizing the poem Luc Van Tien by Poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu. The structure of the Van Tien Poetry performance is two pairs of lines 6 - 8 (six-eight verse style).

The content about building exemplary morality, striving ideals, and arousing patriotism, people often use this performance style. Thanks to the art of Van Tien Poetry, the work Luc Van Tien quickly became widely popular.

Van Tien Poetry is a combination of breaths (voices) in the Nam mode (popular in Southern folk music). It is this skillful combination that makes Van Tien Poetry fully express the nature, characteristics and emotions of the work (eloquent, strong, gentle, passionate, sad, bustling...).

Reciting Van Tien poetry has become an indispensable community activity in the cultural and spiritual life of the people of Ba Tri, Ben Tre for generations. Not only performed by farmers in the fields during harvest season, Reciting Van Tien poetry has also become a lullaby in the family, performed in parties, death anniversaries, and in the life of merchants on the river.

From 2022, the teaching of Van Tien Poetry Recitation art will be promoted in Ben Tre, targeting students, cultural workers, teachers, civil servants, employees, workers, tour guides, etc. to spread the value of Van Tien Poetry Recitation back into people's lives.
