HOT! Bombing at festival in Thailand, heavy casualties

Three people were killed and 39 injured in a bomb explosion just before midnight on December 13 at an annual festival in Thailand's Tak province.

In a social media post, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the explosion.

Ms Paetongtarn has ordered police and security agencies to promptly investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The leader also instructed authorities to strengthen security measures at all upcoming festivals to ensure public order and safety.

According to AP news agency, two suspects were arrested after the incident.

Thai Defense Ministry spokesman Thanathip Sawangsang said that according to local police, there had been a fight between rival groups before the explosion and there was currently no greater security threat.

Mr. Sawangsang also said that forensic evidence showed that the explosive device was a homemade bomb.
