The Vietnamese team surprised their opponents with an impressive start, continuously creating an advantage over the Thai team. The 4-point gap (16/12) was created by the Vietnamese team thanks to the effective attacking ability of Quoc Duy and Ngoc Thuan. However, the Thai team rose strongly, creating a series of 6 points to take the lead 23/20. The efforts of Truong The Khai, Pham Van Hiep and teammates helped the Vietnamese team balance 24/24 and then had 2 chances to win in game 1 but unfortunately lost 29/31.

Coach Tran Dinh Tien's players continued to play well in game 2, widening the gap to 5 points (17/12). Kissada and the Thai team tried to shorten the score to 22/24, but the Vietnamese team took advantage of the opportunity to win 25/22, equalizing the score 1-1. Although the opponent led at the beginning of game 3, the Vietnamese team played explosively, equalizing the score before rising to maintain a 3-point gap (15/12, 17/14, 19/16, 20/17, 21/18). Truong The Khai shone with a successful block and a good opportunity to help the Vietnamese team widen the gap to 5 points (23/18) before winning impressively 25/18.
The high spirits helped the Vietnamese players play enthusiastically in game 4, continuously leading against the defending champion Thailand. Kissada and his teammates equalized the score, but then Tran Duy Tuyen and Nguyen Ngoc Thuan played "sublimely" to help the Vietnamese team create a gap of 4 points (17/13) and then 7 points (23/16) before winning 25/16 and bursting with joy with the final victory of 3-1.
The victory over Thailand helped the Vietnamese team have the same 2 wins and 1 loss as the Thai team, thereby still having the opportunity to compete for the championship title. At 2 p.m. tomorrow (July 12), the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will face the Indonesian team in the final match of the first round of the SEA V.League volleyball tournament.
