(NLDO) – People's Artist Tu Long is the one who devoted all his heart to staging a humane Cheo play about those who keep peace in the border area.

On the morning of July 2 in Hanoi , within the framework of the 5th National Professional Theater Festival on "The Image of the People's Public Security Soldier" - 2025, the Army Cheo Theater brought a special mark with the play "Peaceful Sky" (script: Min Huong, director: People's Artist Tu Long).

Elaborately staged with the participation of nearly 100 young and talented artists, actors and musicians, this is a special work of art with profound propaganda and education , touching the depths of the audience's soul with the sophisticated, poetic and contemporary Cheo language.

The play tells the story of Hoang, a young police officer who volunteers to take up duty in a border commune, where petty civil cases such as chicken theft, wife beating, or drunkenness seem to be everyday tasks.

However, from that seemingly "boring" place, Hoang began his journey to touch the hearts of the villagers, becoming a cadre loved and trusted by the people.

Hoang is a model of a quiet, patient police officer who builds trust from the simplest things. And when faced with a major drug case, the real challenge comes – not just in terms of professionalism, but also in the internal dialogue between emotion and reason, between humanity and responsibility.

People's Artist Tu Long is an artist who lives for his deep passion for Cheo. He won the Mai Vang Award of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper in 2024.

He told the story of the peaceful sky in a form that was not too noisy or intense, but still brought the audience to the heart-wrenching moments - when Hoang realized that the wanted person was the father of the two children he had saved.

When the arrest warrant was issued, Hoang was forced to follow the man – not only because of duty, but also because of an undying belief in the remaining goodness in the man who once felt warm for his child.

The sweet, soulful Cheo melodies, still retaining the national soul, are set in the majestic mountains and forests. The simple yet realistic characters, from the quarreling Mong couple, Tet and Lu, to the young teacher with a deep love for the village, have created a stage space that is both poetic and intimate.
