Designer Thuy Nguyen brings the lyrics of Da Co Hoai Lang into her ao dai collection

VOV.VN - Opening the third night of Vietnam International Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2024 at Quan Ngua Sports Palace, Hanoi, designer Thuy Nguyen conquered the audience with the collection "En Nhan Hiep Doi" - an emotional symphony between the art of reformed opera and the contemporary nature of wedding ao dai.

The wedding ao dai collection named “Swallows and Swallows Together” is a fusion of the once glorious beauty of the East and the West and the contemporary nature of the ao dai, inspired by the girl’s state of mind in the echo of “Da co hoai lang” - a unique and famous song of Vietnamese reformed opera.

Inspired by “Cong Tu Bac Lieu ” - a film that recreates the prosperous golden age of South Vietnam in the 1930s, which was also the time when the vọng cổ song “Da co hoai lang” was born, designer Thuy Nguyen cleverly used cải lương as a creative material for her collection, with the desire to preserve traditional cultural values with a very contemporary perspective.

Thuy Nguyen still maintains her creative style through the seemingly familiar ao dai design, now renewed with lace trim, slightly reminiscent of the designs of the Lemur ao dai - the creation of artist Cat Tuong about the innovation of the ao dai in the last century.

Comes with a large turban accessory as a special visual highlight for the show.

Besides the aesthetic beauty of fashion , vọng cổ and the elegance of wedding ao dai, Thuy also does not forget to develop her strengths, which are interesting perspectives on colors such as white, red, pink... creating a striking, contrasting yet indescribably harmonious whole.

Bird and phoenix motifs, along with images of peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, and lotus flowers - symbols of freshness and eternity, are meticulously and completely hand-sewn, layered and structured, making the ao dai design sophisticated, both traditional and modern.

When the melody of “Da Co Hoai Lang” was played, blending with the sweet rhythm of Don Ca Tai Tu, the audience seemed to be drawn back to the Southern space, where Cai Luong was born and became the soulful voice of the Vietnamese people.

Closing the performance, runner-up Le Hang shone in a white ao dai mixed with pink from lotus motifs.

The runner-up exudes elegance and modernity but still honors the gentle and feminine beauty of Asia.

The collection “Swallows and Swallows” is like a rhythmic opera, bringing emotional and culturally profound fashion experiences. By recreating the Ao Dai - a cultural heritage - designer Thuy Nguyen not only honors the traditional costume but also redefines its beauty in a contemporary context.
