On August 15, Now News reported that female singer IL - a member of the group IRRIS - is undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with leukemia in May.
On her personal page, she shared a picture of her shaved head due to hair loss after many chemotherapy sessions.

IL said the unusual signs started with severe headaches, a feeling of a heartbeat in the back of her neck, fatigue and shortness of breath even with light exercise. At first, she thought the cause was just lack of exercise. However, one weekend morning while working overtime, her left vision was suddenly obscured by black streaks.
Panicked, IL immediately went to the hospital. Test results showed an abnormally high white blood cell count, forcing her to be transferred to a larger hospital. Doctors diagnosed the singer with leukemia.

After 3 months of treatment, IL has completed 2 rounds of chemotherapy and is preparing to enter the 3rd round. She admitted that she used to withdraw, not wanting to receive comfort or contact from anyone, but gradually gained strength thanks to the love of family, friends and colleagues. “People cannot live alone. That care helps me stand up and continue fighting,” she wrote.
Despite facing the big challenge of a hematopoietic stem cell transplant, IL remains optimistic, hoping to recover soon and return to a healthier life.

IL's real name is Kim Ji Won, born in 1997, is a Korean singer and actress. She debuted in 2017 with the group GOOD DAY, then joined REDSQUARE in 2020 and since 2022 is the leader of IRRIS.
In addition to singing, IL also acted in The Coup (2021), Villains (2023) and several web-dramas.
