In The Story of the Night with the Stars , Ngoc Anh recalls her performance in Phan Thiet in 1994-1995, when she performed the song Han Mac Tu on an outdoor stage, in front of tens of thousands of spectators. While she was engrossed in her performance, a large rock suddenly fell right behind her, surprising the female singer.
“I only took one step, otherwise the rock would have hit my head. I continued singing because I had no idea what had just happened,” she recalled. That dangerous moment made many people at the stage gasp and is still an unforgettable memory for singer Anh Ba Hung when talking about his career.

Not only were the moments dramatic, Ngoc Anh's performance journey was also filled with humanity. Recalling the tour, she recalled: “My parents, my driver and I had to ask to stay at a local's house because the hotels were all full at that time. The host couple were willing to give us their room so my family could rest, and they went to the kitchen to sleep on a mat. Early in the morning, they even cooked a pot of porridge to invite us. I tried to give them money but they refused to accept it because they loved me and my parents. I was touched because I felt lucky to be loved.”
Sharing about the title “Queen of Rock”, Ngoc Anh said that this was an unexpected opportunity. Initially, the female singer pursued light music, performing Spring by the Window and Tri An Echoing Spring with disco rhythm. The turning point came in 1987 when she signed a one-year contract with the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Culture House. Here, Ngoc Anh was discovered by musician Vu An Khoa while singing on stage and invited to perform with the Rock band Dai Duong.
“I thought I would just try singing, but the more I sang, the more I loved it. I started with Sunset on the Ocean (Vu An Khoa), then Hay Dan Len (Phan Nhan), Ngon Lua Trai Tim (Nguyen Duc Tri)... I felt like I was really burning and could be myself when singing rock,” Ngoc Anh said. Since then, that vibrant music genre has been attached to her career like a fate.

Ngoc Anh talks about her daughter
Talking about her life, Ngoc Anh did not hide her frankness when talking about the period when she decided to live abroad: "I did not think too much, I just told my mother that I would go for 6 months. If things were okay, I would stay, if not, I would go home." But then when she got married and had children, the singer's life also changed. She said: "I gave birth in 2003 but still went to shows regularly, because at that time I was the main source of income. I had to fly back and forth between the two places, saving enough money and then coming back to visit my child for a few weeks, like that for 8 years."
Ngoc Anh said she had taken her child abroad three times but was unsuccessful because the child was still young and refused to leave her mother. “I couldn’t take care of my child and work at the same time. This job is not easy to give up. I used to hesitate between work and family, but then I understood that if I didn’t exist, my child wouldn’t exist either,” she said.
That silent sacrifice was only realized by my daughter when she grew up: "Now my daughter blames me: "Why did you leave me at home?". But I believe she understands that I did what was necessary to raise her to adulthood."
In 2018, Ngoc Anh officially returned to Vietnam, closing an old chapter to start a new phase. Here, she is still passionate about music , but at the same time is a mother who knows how to love properly and always lives true to what she chooses.
