Ms. Minh Thu is the founder and CEO of Dong Phuong Art and Trade Investment Company Limited (Dong Phuong Art), An Phu Pearl and Jewelry Company.
Ms. Minh Thu said that before starting a business, she was an excellent employee at a prestigious travel company. It was this time working in tourism that fostered in her a love for Vietnamese handicrafts.
According to Ms. Minh Thu, at that time, many tourists, especially international tourists, loved handicraft products, especially Vietnamese lacquer products. This was a difficult field, requiring workers to have extensive techniques and knowledge. But because of her passion, she decided to start a business with this product, building the Dong Phuong lacquer brand.
With the philosophy of “doing business from the heart”, the businesswoman always keeps in mind that she must bring the best products, serve customers best and herself must understand and cherish each of her own products, enough to convince customers. She found teachers, attended many painting classes, invited many experts, famous and talented artisans in this field to collaborate. From the beginning, the company has invested deeply, from training service staff to designing product models that must be beautiful, sophisticated, embodying the soul of traditional cultural values and providing the best service.
After the success of Dong Phuong Art, she continued to expand and established An Phu Pearl and Jewelry Company. Although the finished products are different, the companies all aim for the common goal of bringing Made in Vietnam products to international tourists.
Ms. Minh Thu said, “Working in the souvenir industry, we understand that each product we make is not simply for decoration or beauty but also a cultural product. Through these products, the history and traditions of Vietnam will follow tourists to all over the world. Therefore, from the leaders to the employees, the artisans always put responsibility and “heart” into every detail in the production process. Our paintings and lacquer products are completely handmade in a very elaborate way to “carry” the culture of nature, the country and the people of Vietnam. These are paintings of landscapes, the country, people, paintings of customs, and cultural traditions of Vietnam past and present…”.
Ms. Minh Thu also said that, unlike many businesses in the market who always have the mentality of “the business world is a battlefield”, she believes that the more people love and want to revive traditional “Made in Vietnam” handicraft products, the better. For that reason, the businesswoman does not hesitate to connect with many craft villages to promote the overall development of the industry, not just any individual or company.
In fact, up to now, all 3 companies of Ms. Minh Thu have grown, creating jobs for nearly 300 employees, providing the market with more than 200 thousand sophisticated handcrafted products that meet international standards.
In addition, in recent years, she and her businesses have participated in many charity programs, giving Tet gifts, building charity houses, giving cows to households, giving savings books to former youth volunteers in difficult circumstances across the country. Ms. Minh Thu also participated in supporting the construction of solidarity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province and some northern provinces; supporting the construction of kindergartens, giving gifts to students in difficult circumstances, etc.
“Regardless of whether we do business or volunteer work, we always do it with our hearts and the spirit of “giving is forever”, Ms. Minh Thu affirmed.
