On June 28, Da Nang International Terminal handed over nearly 1.4 billion VND that a passenger left at the airport.
At around 6am on June 26, while cleaning the departure gate area of Da Nang International Terminal, Ms. Tran Thi Huong (a cleaning staff) discovered a backpack left behind by a passenger. She reported it to the operations department and handed the backpack over to the International Security Screening Team. Upon inspection, the backpack was estimated to be worth nearly 1.4 billion VND.
This amount of property was then sealed and a record was made of the handover to the Customs Branch of Da Nang International Airport (Customs Branch) to find the owner who left it behind.
On June 27, the authorities determined that the backpack belonged to passenger T. (Japanese). The entire property was then handed over to the passenger by Da Nang International Terminal and Ms. Huong.
It is known that passenger T. arrived in Da Nang a few days ago, flew to Korea in the early morning of June 26 and left his luggage at the airport.
Sharing with VietNamNet, Ms. Huong said that in 6 years working at Da Nang International Terminal, she has picked up abandoned property dozens of times such as phones, computers, wallets, but this is the first time she has picked up such a valuable property.
"This is the right thing to do, helping passengers get their belongings back quickly makes me very happy. We clean up, if we discover any belongings that passengers have left behind, we absolutely must not open them but must notify the supervisory department to coordinate the return of the lost property to the owner," she said.
