In the first half of August, Vietnam spent more than 2 billion USD to import cars.

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, the country imported 97,767 complete cars from the beginning of the year to August, with a total turnover of more than 2 billion USD.

In the first half of August (August 1-15), the whole country has import 6,195 vehicles, total turnover reached 114.66 million USD. Of which, the most were cars with 9 seats or less with 5,509 vehicles, turnover reached 89.2 million USD.

Thus, from the beginning of the year to August 15, the whole country imported 97,767 tons of rice. car complete units, total turnover reached over 2 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, the number of imported cars increased by 16.2% (equivalent to 13,619 cars), while turnover increased by 1.6%.

In terms of market, the top 3 names are: Indonesia, Thailand and China. Of which, Indonesia leads in the number of imported cars with 38,040 cars, with a turnover of 557.3 million USD (updated according to the market until July 2024). Thailand ranks second in quantity with 32,717 cars, while the turnover leads with 628.6 million USD. With 17,235 cars, the turnover is 521.65 million USD, China ranks third in quantity but second in turnover.

With a total of 87,992 vehicles, the three markets mentioned above alone accounted for 96% of the total volume of imported cars in the country during the same period.

Previously, in July, the country imported 17,233 complete cars, with a total turnover of 343.8 million USD, up 8.5% in volume and 10.6% in turnover compared to the previous month.

Accumulated from the beginning of the year to the end of July, the whole country imported 91,637 cars, with a total turnover of 1.89 billion USD, up 14.8% in volume and 0.9% in turnover over the same period in 2023.

In particular, July is also the month with the highest number of imported cars since the beginning of the year. The reason is said to be due to the psychology of avoiding the 7th lunar month, people will limit the purchase of large assets. In fact, the number of imported cars also often decreases sharply during the 7th lunar month every year.

The top 3 names are all from Asia: Indonesia, Thailand and China. Of which, Indonesia leads in the number of imported cars with 38,040 cars, with a turnover of 557.3 million USD. Thailand ranks second in quantity with 32,717 cars, while the turnover leads with 628.6 million USD. With 17,235 cars, with a turnover of 521.65 million USD, China ranks third in quantity but second in turnover.

With 87,992 vehicles, the three leading markets above accounted for 96% of the total imported cars in the country.
