Well cared for, pear trees in Say San 1 village (Nung Nang commune, Tam Duong district) are full of fruit.

Returning to the highland commune of Nung Nang in mid-June, we were truly surprised by the hills of pear trees laden with fruit. In a conversation with Mr. Ma A Sa in Say San 1 village, Nung Nang commune, we learned that on this hilly land area, he previously grew corn but with low economic efficiency. When Nung Nang commune directed him to change the crop structure to develop the economy, in 2016, Mr. Sa registered to grow more than 100 VH6 pear trees. With instructions from commune officials on planting, caring, fertilizing, pruning, and shaping the canopy, Mr. Xa grasped the basic knowledge in planting and caring for pear trees. In recent years, pear trees have yielded high yields, bringing high income to his family.

Ms. Vang Thi Pang's family is also one of the pioneers in growing VH6 pears. Previously, Ms. Pang's family grew corn but the results were not worth mentioning. After being promoted and encouraged by the commune to switch to growing VH6 pears, she boldly converted the ineffective agricultural land area to grow 120 pear trees. Commune officials actively guided her on care techniques, fertilization, pruning small fruits... thanks to which her family's pear area grew and developed well, ready to be harvested. This year, the pears are large, even, and beautiful in appearance. Traders have placed orders, just waiting for the fruits to ripen before harvesting.

Nung Nang is a highland commune of Tam Duong district, with a cool climate all year round, and climatic and soil conditions suitable for temperate fruit trees. Taking advantage of the large agricultural land area and favorable soil and weather conditions, in recent years the commune has promoted and mobilized people to focus on developing temperate fruit trees. Currently, 7/7 villages of Nung Nang commune focus on growing temperate fruit trees, including developing the VH6 pear variety.

Along with that, the commune actively propagates and mobilizes households to participate in training courses on planting and caring for temperate fruit trees to help equip them with more knowledge and skills to apply to family farming. In particular, in recent years, pear trees have brought economic efficiency many times higher than rice and corn cultivation, the commune mobilizes people to expand pear acreage. This year, pears have a good harvest and good prices, averaging from 25,000 - 30,000 VND/kg; large fruits, selected goods cost 50,000 VND/kg, many traders come to the garden to buy, people are assured because there is a stable output.

Pear trees in the fields of Nung Nang commune have been bringing high economic efficiency to the people. From there, it creates motivation and joy to help people stick with this potential crop.
