Water level in hydroelectric reservoirs has improved, but 5,000 MW is still unable to generate electricity.

Regarding the electricity supply situation on June 13, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said: Water flow at hydroelectric reservoirs has somewhat improved.

The total water flow to large hydroelectric reservoirs in the North increased by 28% compared to the water flow on June 11, mainly to Hoa Binh and Lai Chau reservoirs.

Water levels of hydroelectric reservoirs have slightly improved.

Recently, due to the restriction of mobilizing large multi-purpose hydropower plants (except Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant) to prepare for the upcoming hot days, the water level of multi-purpose hydropower reservoirs has been above the dead water level, but not much. If calculating the total capacity that cannot be mobilized, it is about 5,000 MW.

"The water level of Lai Chau hydroelectric reservoir increased by 1.2m compared to June 11, Hoa Binh reservoir is still 22.8m from the dead water level," said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

However, answering the press on June 13, Mr. Pham Van Vuong, Director of Hoa Binh Hydropower Company, said that the amount of water flowing into Hoa Binh Hydropower Lake is very low. Specifically, the amount of water flowing into Hoa Binh Hydropower Lake is only about 40m3/s.

If exploited to the maximum, after about 3 days there will not be enough pressure to generate maximum capacity, affecting the reserve capacity and after about 12-13 days the lake water will return to the dead water level.

Up to now, the total largest source capacity in the North has reached 18,580 MW, of which the largest capacity of hydropower is 3,800 MW.

However, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, many coal-fired thermal power plants still have problems, with a total of 2,100 MW of long-term problems and 580 MW of short-term problems.

On June 12, 5 coal-fired thermal power plants in the Northern region had reduced capacity (Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Mong Duong 1, Cam Pha, Thai Binh 2, Son Dong).

Electricity surplus in some places and shortage in others is very painful, we must investigate the responsibility . Why is EVN a monopoly but still making losses? Having the right to adjust the price by 3% but EVN does not dare to do so, that is EVN's responsibility. Why EVN does not do it or is not allowed to do it must be clearly explained.
