Mr. Tan Sanh Tinh is very happy because the price of sturgeon is high.
More than 1,400 square meters of water surface for raising sturgeon is the result of many years of research and exploration by Mr. Tan Sanh Tinh. In this area, his family previously grew cardamom, with a rather unstable income. In 2022, Mr. Tinh decided to invest in a tank system and develop sturgeon farming. After 2 years of establishment, the fish grew well. With over 5,000 fry, the family harvested about 400 kg of fish, the selling price at the tank was 210,000 VND/kg, bringing the family over 80 million VND. It is expected that when all this batch of fish is sold, his family will have a revenue of up to several hundred million VND. Mr. Tan Sanh Tinh, Sung Bang village, Phin Ngan commune, Bat Xat district shared: "The first time I had no experience, but I raised and learned at the same time. The most difficult thing was raising sturgeon with many diseases. After trying to raise them, I found that the water source was suitable, and the profit was much higher than before. I was a little more confident, so I introduced and guided people to expand the development area in the village."
Learning from Mr. Tinh's family model, two households in Sung Bang village have also successfully raised cold-water fish. He has enthusiastically guided households who want to develop this type of fish, hoping to expand the scale of aquaculture of local endemic species. Mr. Vang Lao Ta, Sung Bang village, Phin Ngan commune, Bat Xat district said: "I myself really want to learn this cold-water fish farming model. I will ask Mr. Tinh for technical support and the best breeds to develop and this is certainly a way to escape poverty for the people."
Phin Ngan Commune is continuing to maintain and develop more cold-water fish farming areas in villages and hamlets.
Mr. Ly Thanh Vui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Phin Ngan Commune, Bat Xat District, said: "We really want to expand the cold-water fish farming area in the villages and hamlets. We are currently reviewing the villages and hamlets with suitable water sources to expand this area."
As a poor locality of Bat Xat district, Phin Ngan has a high poverty rate of nearly 65%. New economic models with high incomes like Mr. Tan Sanh Tinh's are being encouraged by the locality to spread the emulation movement of economic development, poverty reduction associated with new rural construction./.
