Vivid memories through visual experiences
At the War Remnants Museum, a group of 14 children of Viettel Telecom Corporation officers entered the exhibition room with eager eyes. This was not just a simple picnic, but an opportunity for the younger generation to directly approach heroic historical pages through artifacts and images.

Mr. Trong Quang, who was taking his children to visit the War Remnants Museum, shared: “After a year of studying, we want our children to have a useful and meaningful experience. This is an annual activity of the company as a gift for the children. The first time I visited the War Remnants Museum, I saw the children attentively listening to the explanation and enthusiastically asking questions. That was more valuable than a lecture in class, because history appeared specifically, touching emotions.”

Also in that space, a group of students from Ho Chi Minh City Open University were diligently taking notes. Xuan Thao, a student majoring in Business Administration, shared: “What impressed and haunted me the most was the topic of Agent Orange. It made me see more clearly the cruelty of war, and at the same time made us appreciate today’s peace more. Trips like this help history not be distant, but be closely linked to the responsibility of the younger generation.”

Not only young people, but also older groups of visitors consider this an opportunity to review history and pay tribute to those who died for the independence of the Fatherland. Mr. Doan Van Ngan, working at Pha Lai Thermal Power Company, and 36 colleagues from Hai Phong visited Ho Chi Minh City and expressed: “This is the third time I have visited the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Ho Chi Minh City Branch. Although I have been there many times, I still choose to come back because of the historical values preserved here. Each time I come, there are new displays, many visual and vivid details. It is this change that makes the trip not only a reminiscence, but also a new experience.”

Spread national pride
The atmosphere of “returning to the roots” is not only present at the War Remnants Museum, Ton Duc Thang Museum, City Museum or Ho Chi Minh Museum Branch in Ho Chi Minh City, but almost all historical sites in Ho Chi Minh City are bustling with visitors these days.

Ngoc Mai, a young person learning about history at the Ton Duc Thang Museum, shared: “Every time there is a big holiday, I choose to come to the museum. It is like a reminder of the responsibility of today’s generation to be grateful to their ancestors, to feel the pride of the nation, and then continue with concrete actions.”

According to statistics, during major holidays, the number of visitors to museums in Ho Chi Minh City often increases 2-3 times compared to normal days. Not only stopping at traditional displays, many places have applied audio-visual technology, QR codes, digital explanations or virtual reality, helping visitors, especially children, easily receive history through many vivid visualizations.

Master Nguyen Thi Huynh Giao, Lecturer at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, said: “The journey to the source on major anniversaries is a way to connect generations. Children can approach history through folk games and visual images; students can approach it through study trips, and for older people, it is an opportunity to review memories to pass on to the next generation. This is the process of nurturing the source of national culture in the community.”

History is not only on the pages of books, but is present in every artifact, every story, every tour, and each time returning to the source, each generation is fueled with a “fire” to preserve and promote tradition. From such journeys, love for the homeland does not stop at emotions, but becomes a lasting strength, spreading from the past to the present and turning it into action in the future.
