On June 19, the Politburo agreed to relieve Mr. Dinh Tien Dung from his positions as Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term and Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi City. Two days later, the Central Committee agreed to allow Mr. Dung to resign from his positions as a member of the Politburo and a member of the 13th Central Committee of the Party, at his own request.

According to the Politburo, in his capacity as Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Finance for the 2016-2021 term, Mr. Dung made many efforts in directing and managing the work of the finance sector, achieving important results. However, he bears political responsibility as the head for allowing numerous violations to occur within the Ministry of Finance ; his lack of responsibility in leadership and direction led to many violations and shortcomings within the Party Committee, the Ministry of Finance, and some organizations and individuals, causing serious consequences, negative public opinion, and diminishing the prestige of the Party organization and state management agencies.

The Party Committee of the Ministry of Finance was assessed as not performing, not performing properly, not fully performing the assigned functions and tasks in advising, promulgating mechanisms, policies, and state management of the issuance and trading of individual corporate bonds of enterprises, including enterprises belonging to the "ecosystem" of Van Thinh Phat Group Joint Stock Company, An Dong Group Joint Stock Company; in state management of the budget related to AIC and AIC ecosystems.

Regarding the above violations, at the 42nd session, the Central Inspection Committee decided to warn a series of leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Finance.

Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, 63 years old, hails from Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. He is a member of the 13th Politburo; a member of the 11th, 12th, and 13th Central Committees of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and a National Assembly delegate for the 14th and 15th terms. He served as Minister of Finance from June 2013 to March 2021; and from April 2021 to the present, he has held the position of Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee.

Since the beginning of the term (2021), the National Assembly has dismissed 3 deputies and relieved 10 others of their duties. The total number of deputies in the 15th National Assembly currently stands at 486.
