A grand welcoming ceremony was held upon Xi Jinping's arrival in Russia. According to TASS news agency, the Chinese leader's plane landed at Moscow's Vnukovo airport at around 12:59 Moscow time on Monday.
In a written statement, Xi said he looked forward to having an in-depth exchange of views with Putin on bilateral relations and international issues, to work out a blueprint for China-Russia strategic coordination and practical cooperation in the region.
Xi Jinping believes that the visit will yield good results and inject new impetus into the healthy and stable development of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.
Noting that China and Russia are two friendly neighbors, President Xi Jinping said that 10 years ago, he made his first state visit to Russia as Chinese President, and together with President Putin, opened a new chapter in the all-round development of the two countries.
President Xi Jinping stressed respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, adding that both countries have enhanced political mutual trust, expanded practical cooperation, maintained close and effective international cooperation, and consolidated the long-standing friendship between the two peoples.
The Chinese president noted that the development of China-Russia relations not only brings practical benefits to the people of the two countries but also makes important contributions to the development and progress of the world .
Mr. Xi said that as both countries are major countries in the world and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and Russia should play important roles in international affairs.
According to Russian media, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov told reporters that Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping will hold face-to-face talks at the Kremlin on Monday afternoon local time. Negotiations between the two sides will continue on March 21 and 22.
