Mr. Trump is concerned that the US film industry is "declining too quickly" while other countries are offering many incentives to attract filmmakers and studios to leave the US.

According to Reuters, on May 4, US President Donald Trump announced a 100% tax on all films produced outside the US.

Mr. Trump said he had authorized the US Trade Representative to take relevant steps because he was concerned that the US film industry was "declining too quickly" while other countries were offering many preferential policies to attract filmmakers and film studios to leave the US.

In a post on Truth Social, Mr. Trump stated: "This is a coordinated effort by other countries and therefore a threat to national security. In addition, this is also a matter of media and propaganda!"./.
