(Dan Tri) - US President Donald Trump is scheduled to have a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin tomorrow, March 18.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, US President Donald Trump said he plans to speak by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 18 about bilateral issues as well as a potential peace deal in Ukraine.
"We'll see if we have anything to announce on Tuesday. I'll be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday. A lot of work has been done over the weekend. We want to see if we can end that war. We'll talk about land. We'll talk about power plants," he said.
This will be the second phone call with Mr. Putin since Mr. Trump took office in late January. After the first meeting on February 12, the Russian and American delegations held high-level talks in Saudi Arabia.
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also said earlier that the two US and Russian leaders will have a phone call this week to discuss efforts towards establishing a ceasefire in the conflict in Ukraine.
Mr. Witkoff has just returned from discussions with President Putin in Moscow on March 13.
He described the discussions as "positive" and said Russia and Ukraine were moving closer to peace talks aimed at ending the conflict that has lasted more than three years.
The Trump administration has proposed a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, which has received support from Kiev. Meanwhile, President Putin said that Russia supports the idea of a ceasefire, but there are still some issues to be resolved, such as ensuring Russia's interests and who will monitor the ceasefire.
Moscow has repeatedly rejected plans for a temporary ceasefire, arguing that it would only give Ukraine more time to rearm before the conflict flares up again.
Last weekend, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a private phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, in which the two top diplomats discussed next steps to reestablish direct communication between the two countries.
It is unclear what the Trump administration's next steps will be following Putin's announcement.
Last week, Mr Trump suggested the world could expect “good news” on the Russia-Ukraine conflict as early as this week.
"We're working things out with him (President Putin), and I think things are going very well. As you know, we have a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine. We're also trying to get that with Russia. I think so far, things are going well. We'll know more on Monday and hopefully things will go well," the White House owner said.
"We have just received good information from Russia. I think Russia will agree to our proposal," he added.
