The Guardian (UK) and The New York Times (USA) reported that Mr. Trump told his advisers that he "wanted to be handcuffed in court" if indicted by a Manhattan jury (New York - USA).
Trump is embroiled in the case of porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, arranged a $130,000 payment to Daniels to keep her quiet about “a sexual exchange with Trump a decade earlier.”
Last week, Mr. Trump announced on social media about the possibility of "being arrested on March 21" but in the end it did not happen.

According to The Guardian, Mr. Trump's "wanting to be handcuffed in court" seems to be to create a situation that attracts attention, strengthening political determination to ensure the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
The newspaper quoted sources as saying that Mr Trump "worried that he would appear weak if he appeared in court via video call or that he would receive special treatment from the authorities". He is also said to "hope that this case will make it difficult for his Republican opponents" who may have to publicly defend him if he is prosecuted.
Previously, on March 20, Bloomberg reported that Mr. Trump was not expected to be handcuffed because he is a former head of state.
Daniels' case has opened the door to a number of other allegations against Trump, including falsifying business records, failing to pay taxes and violating campaign finance laws.
Mr. Cohen cooperated with prosecutors and pleaded guilty in 2018 to charges of tax fraud, bank fraud and financial violations.
It is not yet clear when a Manhattan grand jury will return an indictment against Mr Trump. If it does, Mr Trump would become the first former US president to be criminally prosecuted.
