Car plunged into 20 meter deep abyss

Quang Tri A 5-seat car was traveling on the West branch of Ho Chi Minh road through Huong Hoa district when it lost control and plunged into a deep abyss more than 20 meters from the road surface.

At about 8:15 a.m. on February 16, Mr. Dau Dinh Huong, 50 years old, from Nghe An, drove a white 5-seat Ford with a Hanoi license plate from Quang Binh to Quang Tri on the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Road.

When reaching Cup village, Huong Lap commune, Huong Hoa district, the car lost control and plunged down the right slope. Local people kicked the car door open and took Mr. Huong to the emergency room. The Ford car lying at the bottom of the cliff was badly damaged, the car's body was crushed due to the collision.

The accident site is a curved, steep section of road. Because the vehicle was at the bottom of a deep ravine and the terrain was difficult, rescue efforts were difficult and required a specialized vehicle to come and lift it up.

Currently, the driver has been taken to Hanoi by his family for further treatment. Huong Lap Border Guard Station is coordinating with Huong Lap Commune Police to protect the scene while authorities investigate the cause of the accident.

At around 2:50 p.m. on February 16, a vegetable truck driven by a male driver was traveling on Highway 20 from Da Lat City to Ho Chi Minh City. When it reached a narrow curve on Bao Loc Pass in Dai Lao Commune (Bao Loc City), the car overturned.

The accident did not cause any casualties, but it happened when many vehicles were leaving Da Lat after Tet holiday, causing traffic jams in the eastern provinces. The line of vehicles was more than 3 km long.
