French Prime Minister Elisabeth Born has just issued an order banning the use of foreign communication applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal for government employees.
Pháp chính thức ban hành lệnh cấm nhân viên chính phủ sử dụng Telegram và WhatsApp vì lý do an ninh.
France officially bans government employees from using Telegram and WhatsApp for security reasons.

Instead of using foreign communication apps like Telegram, WhatsApp and Signal, Prime Minister Elisabeth Born called for switching to French alternatives Olvid and Tchap.

The above information was confirmed by Prime Minister Elisabeth Born in an interview with Le Point Magazine and was previously announced by Tech&Co TV channel on November 22.

Under instructions from the authorities, French government employees are required to delete all “unauthorized” online messaging applications by December 8.

The main reason the French government decided to ban WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal was due to “security vulnerabilities found in popular messaging apps”.

With a level 1 security certification from the French National Agency for Information Systems Security (ANSSI), the Olvid communication app stands out from the crowd with its end-to-end message encryption and ability to sync with electronic devices.

In addition, the Olvid app also ensures privacy by not requiring linking to a personal phone number and encrypting user metadata.

Tchap is the second option adopted by the French government. This communication app was developed specifically for French civil servants in 2019. Unlike the Olvid app, the Tchap software is not available on popular app stores such as the AppStore and Google Play.
