“Nuclear power is an absolute red line for France and France will not give up any competitive advantage in nuclear energy,” Minister Bruno Le Maire stressed in his speech at the closing ceremony of the annual conference of the French Electricity Union. He also said that France will continue to maintain nuclear energy, not only for France but also for the benefit of Europe. Currently, 56 nuclear reactors provide about 70% of France's electricity needs. At the same event, German State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Stefan Wenzel admitted that Germany and France often have different approaches to energy policy, especially when it comes to nuclear energy.
