Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, highly appreciated the program "Vietnam Traffic Safety Initiative" which has been maintained for many years and has brought about many effective and meaningful initiatives. This is not only a competition but has become a social movement with strong influence, attracting thousands of ideas and solutions from scientists, engineers, students, businesses, and people across the country.
In the first year (2022), the contest launched to all Vietnamese people only received more than 200 initiatives, but in the following years (2023, 2024), this number increased rapidly, exceeding 1,000 entries with many practical ideas that came into life.
Entering 2025, the program continues to choose the theme "Proposing initiatives, solutions or technological solutions to improve traffic safety", focusing on the application of digital technology , artificial intelligence (AI), management models, technical equipment, smart software applications in management, monitoring and raising awareness of traffic participants. A direction that is very suitable for the national digital transformation trend, especially when Vietnam is aiming to build smart cities, digital infrastructure, green - safe - smart transportation.
Sharing at the launching ceremony, Major General Nguyen Van Mung, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department, said that in recent years, the traffic safety situation across the country has changed very positively due to the awareness of each individual when participating in traffic. Along with that, the combination of many models, solutions, and practical initiatives has been deployed and brought about clear results. However, in reality, the traffic safety violation situation still has many complicated problems, directly affecting the people and the sustainable development of the country.
Therefore, the Vietnam traffic safety initiative is still an effective bridge, both a creative playground for students and people and a place to arouse the spirit of civic responsibility, spread safe, humane and modern traffic culture in the community, aiming to change awareness, adjust behavior, and form safe habits in society.
As the core force in ensuring traffic safety, the Traffic Police Department always attaches importance to propaganda and legal education , and actively coordinates with ministries, branches, organizations, press agencies and businesses to spread awareness and build a culture of safe traffic. Every initiative and idea, no matter how small, can contribute to saving a life, protecting a family, and moving towards the great goal: "For a Vietnam with safe - civilized - modern traffic".
The Vietnam Traffic Safety Initiative 2025 Contest will begin accepting entries from October 14 to December 10, and encourages all Vietnamese citizens living in the country or abroad, and foreigners living in Vietnam aged 16 and over to participate.
Individuals and groups can choose one of three topics: “Surfing the Internet – Losing Network”, “Fill in the Blank”, or “Hurry Handing Over the Key – Unexpected Consequences” with the forms of initiatives, solutions or educational propaganda ideas. The contest will go through 3 rounds: preliminary, semi-final and final, to find the owners of 3 sets of awards including 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 2 third prizes and 3 consolation prizes for each topic category, with a total prize value of up to 255 million VND.
