The force was tasked with discovering, salvaging, and recovering 112 explosives left over from the war in the Da River, Tan Thinh Ward, Hoa Binh City.

The most notable of these was the successful search, discovery and salvage of half of a 2,000-pound bomb that survived the war in the Da River. The bomb was discovered about 100m from Hoa Binh Bridge and at a depth of nearly 1m of water when the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant adjusted its production activities and reduced the water level in the downstream area. This is a very powerful bomb, with a shrapnel damage radius of up to hundreds of meters. Inside the bomb, there were hundreds of kilograms of TNT explosives. The salvaged bomb still had its fuse intact and the amount of explosives weighed about 100kg. With the remaining amount of explosives, in case of explosion, it would affect the safety of Hoa Binh Bridge, Dung Bridge, surrounding structures and people and vehicles at the construction sites.

After the discovery, the task force successfully salvaged and brought it back to the storage location, ensuring safety according to regulations. At the same time, they continued to mobilize forces, vehicles and specialized detection equipment to organize the search for the remaining part of the bomb in the Da River and surrounding areas.

In addition to successfully discovering and salvaging the bomb, on May 19, the task force also discovered, salvaged, and recovered 112 explosives left over from the war in the Da River, not far from the safe zone of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant. Among them were 20 yellow pineapple-shaped cluster bombs, 88 12.7mm bullets, and 4 grenades.

Notably, all of the explosives discovered were in a particularly dangerous condition, with the safety pins destroyed and the detonation mechanism activated, so there was a high possibility of explosion. After being salvaged and recovered, the explosives were brought to a sealed location, ensuring safety according to regulations to prepare for detonation plans.
