Promoting historical relics in tourism development

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province currently has 660 historical, cultural and scenic sites, including 271 provincial-level sites, 182 national sites, 3 special national sites, and 1 national treasure. If calculated by type, there are 474 historical sites, 78 architectural and artistic sites, 51 archaeological sites, and 57 scenic sites.

The province has 3 special national relics: Tan Trao Special National Relic Site (Son Duong), Kim Binh Special National Relic Site (Chiem Hoa), and Na Hang - Lam Binh Natural Reserve Special National Scenic Area. There are many types of tourism in Tuyen Quang, but the province pays special attention to source tourism, promoting the value of revolutionary historical relics. This is perhaps the most outstanding and unique type of tourism that Tuyen Quang has.

With an important strategic position throughout the nation's history of building and defending the country, Tuyen Quang province is considered a "revolutionary museum" of the whole country, a priceless archive of the history of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution. In the history of the struggle, protection and construction of the country, Tuyen Quang province was honored to be chosen by the Party Central Committee and Uncle Ho twice as the Capital to lead the revolution, namely: "Capital of the Liberated Zone" that successfully led the August Revolution in 1945; "Capital of the Resistance" that successfully led the resistance war against French colonialism, culminating in the Dien Bien Phu victory that "resounded throughout the five continents and shook the earth".

Tuyen Quang is also the place where Uncle Ho lived and worked for nearly 6 years; there were 65 ministries, departments, branches, and central agencies (13/14 ministries and ministerial-level agencies) headquartered during the resistance war. Here, many important historical events of the revolution and the nation took place, notably: the National Conference of the Party and the National Congress of Tan Trao, the predecessor of the current National Assembly, approved the general uprising policy, established the National Liberation Committee, that is, the provisional government chaired by comrade Ho Chi Minh, approved the Ten Major Policies of the Viet Minh; decided the National Flag and National Anthem of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Under the shade of the historic Tan Trao banyan tree, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap read Military Order No. 01 commanding the Liberation Army to advance to Hanoi, opening the way for the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 of the nation.

Tuyen Quang province is proud to be the place where the 2nd National Congress of the Party was held in Kim Binh commune, Chiem Hoa district. This was the first congress of the Party held in the country after its establishment and to date is the only congress held outside the capital Hanoi; the Viet Minh - Lien Viet Unification Congress; the first National Congress of Emulation Fighters and Exemplary Cadres... These important historical sites and events will forever be the pride of the people of all ethnic groups in Tuyen Quang province as well as the people of the whole country.

Turning historical relics into resources

Recognizing the province's unique potential and advantages, the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress in recent terms determined that tourism development would become one of the three breakthroughs, becoming an important economic sector of the province. Localities in the province focus on exploiting and promoting revolutionary historical relics as resources for tourism development.

To have a clear orientation, the Prime Minister has approved the Master Plan for preservation, restoration, embellishment and promotion of the value of relics associated with tourism development until 2025; Master Plan for development of Tan Trao National Tourist Area, Tuyen Quang province until 2030. On that basis, the province has implemented the Project for preservation, restoration, and promotion of the value of the relic site with many constructions of historical and cultural value: Memorial area for revolutionary predecessors, Tan Trao Museum, Tan Trao Square. In addition, with central and local capital, many items of the Kim Binh Special National Historical Relic Site (Chiem Hoa), Lao Revolutionary National Historical Relic Site (Yen Son) have been and are being embellished and restored. The goal by 2030 is to complete the criteria for Tan Trao National Tourist Area to be a National Tourist Area.

Comrade Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that the province wishes to turn Tan Trao and Kim Binh into a red address for returning to the source, a center for educating revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, solidarity, will, and aspirations of all classes of people, especially the young generation, creating motivation and resources to continue the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. Activities and programs for returning to the source, offering incense, reporting achievements, cultural and artistic exchanges, and experiences at historical sites in recent times have created a widespread and regular movement for organizations, agencies, units, and localities in the province and the people of the whole country. Tuyen Quang focuses on promoting the application of information technology and digital technology in building a database for managing, preserving, exploiting, and promoting the value of historical revolutionary sites to create attractive tourism products and build tours and strengthen promotion to attract tourists.

In 2023, the whole province will welcome over 2.6 million tourists, of which tourists visiting revolutionary historical sites account for nearly half. This shows that revolutionary historical tourism is the strength of Tuyen Quang. Currently, the province is continuing to build supporting tourism services and products, such as planning homestay villages, preserving the architecture of stilt houses, festivals, and special-use forest landscapes in the core areas of the two revolutionary historical sites of Tan Trao and Kim Binh. Certainly, with the attention of the Government and the participation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tuyen Quang province will be determined to develop revolutionary historical tourism worthy of its position.
