Promoting solidarity and innovating people-to-people diplomacy.

On the afternoon of April 22nd, the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations held its first General Assembly for the 2026-2031 term. The Assembly elected a 24-member Executive Committee and a 7-member Standing Committee. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa was re-elected as Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations.

Ca Mau celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Union of Friendship Associations.
Connecting with and mobilizing over 80 billion VND in foreign non- governmental aid.

Attending the congress were Mr. Dong Huy Cuong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations ; and Ms. Do Thi Kim Dung, Deputy Head of the People's Aid Coordination Board, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

The leaders of Ca Mau province attending included: Bui Tan Bay, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Thanh Trieu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province; and Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Dong Huy Cuong, presented a commemorative flag from the Presidium of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to the First Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, term 2026-2031.

During the past term, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, together with its member friendship associations, organized and coordinated over 40 people-to-people diplomacy activities; and received more than 94 aid grants totaling over 335 billion VND. The aid focused on practical areas such as: building rural transportation bridges, housing for the poor, healthcare, education, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation, contributing to improving people's lives.

Fundraising efforts continued to yield positive results, raising over 60 billion VND from programs, projects, and non-project sources.

Currently, there are more than 40 foreign non-governmental organizations operating in Ca Mau province. During the past term, more than 100 international delegations visited to survey and implement programs and projects.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province, Le Thanh Trieu, presented a banner from the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee to the congress and received thank-you flowers from the Presidium of the congress; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Tan Bay (far right) and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang also congratulated the congress.

For the 2026-2031 term, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations of Ca Mau province has set the motto "Unity - Proactiveness - Cooperation - Friendship - Development," striving to organize 7-10 people-to-people diplomacy activities at the provincial level; mobilize resources to reach 120 billion VND or more; expand the partner network and improve the efficiency of aid management.

Speaking at the congress, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Dong Huy Cuong, emphasized the need to thoroughly understand the role of people-to-people diplomacy in the new period; to promote a proactive, creative spirit, actively seek partners, expand areas of cooperation, and improve operational efficiency; to link people-to-people diplomacy with the goals of socio-economic development and sustainable poverty reduction; and to focus on building a team of cadres, especially the younger generation, with competence, courage, and an integrated mindset.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Dong Huy Cuong, presented the "For Peace and Friendship Among Nations" commemorative medal to collectives and individuals who have made significant contributions to people-to-people diplomacy in Ca Mau province during the 2021-2026 term.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Tan Bay and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang presented certificates of commendation to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements during the 2021-2026 term.

Mr. Le Thanh Trieu, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province, presented certificates of commendation to collectives that excellently fulfilled their tasks during the 2021-2026 term.

Commending the achievements of the past term, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province, Le Thanh Trieu, requested the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations to continue to promote its role as a bridge in people-to-people diplomacy, strengthen the mobilization of international aid, especially in the fields of economics, health, education, and poverty reduction; and ensure close coordination between people-to-people diplomacy with Party diplomacy and State diplomacy, meeting the requirements of the tasks in the new period.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Dong Huy Cuong and Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Council Bui Tan Bay presented gifts of gratitude to the members of the Executive Committee of the former Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces who were not re-elected, in recognition of their contributions during the past term.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province Le Thanh Trieu and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang presented gifts of gratitude to the members of the Executive Committee of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Ca Mau (former) and Bac Lieu (former) provinces who were not re-elected.
