Provincial Women's Union commends exemplary elderly women in building cultural, prosperous and happy families

Currently, the province has nearly 184 thousand elderly people aged 60 and over, accounting for 15.1% of the population, of which women account for over 50%. In recent times, the Provincial Women's Union has coordinated with the Provincial Association of the Elderly to organize activities to protect, care for and promote the role of elderly women.

After more than 3 years of implementation and coordination, the Association at all levels has awarded 43 "Warm Houses of Love" to policy families, families with single, disadvantaged, sick elderly, etc. with a total cost of over 3 billion VND, awarded nearly 150,000 gifts with a total cost of 73 million VND; coordinated with medical stations and charity groups to organize health check-ups for over 103,000 elderly.

Besides, currently in some localities, elderly women members are elected by the people to hold positions in Party organizations, government, mass organizations, heads of residential groups, heads of village/group front work committees...

31 typical elderly women in building a cultured, prosperous and happy family were commended.

On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union honored 31 exemplary elderly women in building a cultured, prosperous and happy family, representing nearly 90 thousand elderly women across the province. The advanced models are outstanding examples in the work of the Union, women's movements and community activities.
