People in Phu Thuong commune (Vo Nhai) proactively spray pesticides to prevent pests and diseases in spring rice. |
According to information from the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (BVTV), through field inspection results, it was found that various types of planthoppers are emerging on rice fields (in Thai Nguyen City, Dong Hy, Phu Luong, Dai Tu districts...), with an average density of 300-500 individuals/m2, in high places 800-1,000 individuals/m2, locally 1,500-2,000 individuals/m2 (young and adult).
Adult stem borers have appeared and bloomed, with a high risk of causing silver leaf on rice in early May and panicle rot on rice in mid-May.
Leaf blast disease has an average damage rate of 1-10%, in high places 20-30%, locally 50% (in Dong Hy, Dinh Hoa, Phu Luong, Phu Binh...) on varieties J02, sticky rice, TBR 225...
To limit damage caused by pests on spring rice, the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection recommends that localities properly implement pest control, spraying pesticides of the correct type and dosage according to the instructions of local authorities.
In particular, districts and cities need to direct relevant departments, offices, People's Committees of communes, wards and towns to strengthen the investigation, detection and monitoring of the development of pests on crops, proactively advise on timely prevention measures, so as not to affect the growth and development of spring rice.
