This is one of the types of tourism that the district is interested in, besides eco-tourism, community tourism. Developing garden tourism, agricultural tourism, and rural tourism is also associated with the foundation of building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas in the locality.

Many new tourism models

Tan Phu district has focused on supporting farmers in growing fruit trees, applying techniques, and producing agricultural products in a safe, productive, and high-quality manner in recent times. Thereby, creating advantages for developing garden tourism and eco-tourism models, contributing to increasing farmers' income.

In addition, the development of social networks also creates significant conditions to help many local garden tourism models promote and introduce them to tourists inside and outside the province, thereby choosing many garden tourism destinations in Tan Phu as stops on the journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat, as well as building tours and tourist routes with famous tourist destinations in the district and neighboring localities.

In the past few years, Ong Lam strawberry garden (in Bau May 1 hamlet, Phu Thanh commune) has been one of the addresses that many tourists, especially young people, come to "check in" every time the strawberry season is in full swing.

Ms. Le Thi Kim Lien, owner of Ong Lam strawberry garden, shared: “My family has been growing this strawberry garden for 20 years this year with an area of about 1 hectare. Initially, the strawberries were harvested mainly to sell to regular customers. For the past 5 years, I have opened the strawberry garden to welcome tourists to take photos and visit during the harvest season. Usually, the strawberry season starts in early April, so the strawberry garden is a place for many people to visit, especially during the peak of the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the number of visitors is quite large, some days up to 200-300 people, mainly visitors from far away such as Ho Chi Minh City, Bien Hoa…”.

According to Ms. Lien, when more tourists know about the garden, people will tell each other, then they will post pictures of the strawberry garden on social media, so more visitors from far away will know about it. Visitors can experience eating strawberries in the garden, if they find it delicious, they will buy more to take home. A strawberry season lasts about 2 months.

Similarly, the more than 30-year-old pomelo garden in Hamlet 4, Tra Co Commune of Mr. Nguyen Hiep and Ms. Tran Thi Nga's family has also become a destination for many tourists in recent times.

Ms. Thao Linh (residing in Phu Ngoc commune, Dinh Quan district) expressed: “Through clips on social networks, I know many fruit gardens in Tan Phu, including ancient pomelo gardens and strawberry gardens full of fruit, so I chose the weekend to visit, take photos and combine a short tour with my family. This is a tourism model that brings many new travel experiences to visitors.”

According to Vice Chairman of Tan Phu District People's Committee PHAM THANH HAI, the district has begun to develop many community tourism and garden tourism models; notably: cocoa garden in Ta Lai commune, coconut garden in Phu Thinh commune, strawberry garden in Phu Thanh commune...

Need to develop in a sustainable direction

Tan Phu has great potential to develop garden tourism services, especially in the context that the district is promoting activities to promote, search for, and develop markets for OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program) associated with the process of building advanced new rural areas and developing tourism in the area.

However, the development of local garden tourism models is still not commensurate with the potential. Some fruit gardens in the area mainly serve local visitors. The combination of tours in the district with visiting gardens and enjoying specialty fruits in the district is still quite new. In addition, many farmers have not really paid attention and invested properly, so the garden ecotourism model still lacks uniformity and professionalism.

Therefore, to develop garden tourism in a sustainable direction, linking tours and typical tourist routes in the area, garden tourism models in particular and the district's tourism industry in general, it is necessary to develop a long-term development plan, diversify tourism products, develop green and safe tourism; promote channels to promote and introduce community tourism products and typical local agricultural products.

Models such as visiting fruit gardens, experiencing farming and visiting traditional craft villages need to be connected, change thinking, gradually become more professional and creative with new economic models full of potential such as agricultural tourism and garden tourism.

Vice Chairman of Tan Phu District People's Committee Pham Thanh Hai shared that the district has been implementing many solutions to stimulate and develop the potential of garden ecotourism models associated with community tourism development in the locality. In particular, the district focuses on linking the development of OCOP products with tourism development, thereby contributing to increasing the value of local agricultural production and diversifying tourism products in the area.
