This morning, February 2, in Hanoi, the Government organized the 2024 cooperative economic forum with the theme "Improving the State's support policies according to Resolution No. 20-/NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022 - Driving force to promote the development of collective economy and cooperatives in the new period". Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee for Innovation and Development of Collective Economy and Cooperatives Le Minh Khai co-chaired the forum. Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong attended the forum at the Quang Tri bridge.

In his opening speech at the forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam strives to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045. To achieve that goal, Vietnam mobilizes all resources in society to serve rapid and sustainable development, based on science , technology, innovation, in accordance with the domestic situation and world trends. In which, the cooperative economy and cooperatives are identified as important components. The development of the cooperative economy is an inevitable trend in the context of international integration, in line with Vietnam's socialist-oriented market economy.

In 2023, the country will have about 31,700 cooperatives, 158 cooperative unions and 73,000 cooperative groups (THT). Compared to 2022, the number of cooperatives will increase by about 7.9%, the number of cooperative unions will increase by about 26.4% and the number of THT will increase by about 2.8%. In 2022, the average revenue of cooperatives will reach nearly 3.6 billion VND/cooperative/year, the average profit of a cooperative will be 366 million VND/year, and the average income of a regular worker in a cooperative will be 56 million VND/person/year.

Over the past years, the Government has implemented many policies to support enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, business households and people to restore and develop production and business. These include policies on training and fostering human resources, trade promotion; application of science, technology, and technology; support for investment in infrastructure development; land allocation and lease policies; credit policies; product processing support... In the period of 2013 - 2021 alone, more than 362,000 cooperative officials and members were trained and fostered with a total cost of about 323 billion VND; 2,617 agricultural cooperatives were supported with trade promotion with an amount of about 255 billion VND... Thereby, contributing to the strong transformation of the collective economy and cooperatives, sustainable development and completion of the goals set out in Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW.

Concluding the forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the participation and active contributions of key ministries, units and collectives in promoting the economic and cooperative sectors to develop more diversely in terms of industries, scale and quality. Thereby, better supporting members, creating jobs and increasing regular income for workers, contributing to the construction of new rural areas, ensuring social security, security, order and social safety, gradually affirming its important position and role in the national economy.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested that ministries, branches, units, localities and collectives promote their roles, promptly overcome limitations and difficulties to continue to develop the collective economic sector and cooperatives further. Collective economic sectors must be proactive, strive to overcome barriers and obstacles, rise up and strongly shift both thinking and action towards the trend of green economy, circular economy, knowledge economy and sharing economy.

It is necessary to closely follow the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws and policies to develop the collective economy and cooperatives to be stronger, more diverse, and more integrated, contributing to national construction.
