- In 2024, the collective economic sector, with the core being cooperatives in the province, will face many difficulties and challenges, especially the impact of natural disasters, epidemics, and the lack of competitiveness of cooperative products... In that context, relevant levels, sectors and cooperatives have proactively and made efforts to implement many solutions to overcome them, thereby continuing to maintain and improve operational efficiency.
Faced with difficulties arising from practical operations, many cooperatives in the province have made constant efforts, proactively and flexibly implemented many solutions to gradually improve operational efficiency, thereby bringing economic efficiency to cooperatives and creating jobs and stable income for members and employees.
Cooperative efforts
The historic storm that occurred in early September 2024 swept away many properties of people and cooperatives in the province, including Le Hong Phong Aquaculture Cooperative, Bac Son town, Bac Son district. Mr. Duong Huu Chuc, Director of the Cooperative, said: Storm No. 3 and the circulation after the storm caused strong winds and heavy rain, causing 9 cages and 3 fish ponds of the Cooperative to break, break, and be flooded, leading to a large number of fish (mostly fingerlings) of the Cooperative being swept away, causing damage to the Cooperative of about 350 million VND. Immediately after the incident, the Cooperative members mobilized resources to quickly repair and reinforce cages and ponds, and invest in adding new fish sources to gradually restore production. Thanks to the initiative and urgency of the members, the Cooperative's fish farming activities quickly stabilized. In 2024, the cooperative's revenue will reach nearly 2 billion VND, an increase of 2% compared to 2023, with the average income of members and workers reaching about 6 million VND/person/month.
Similar to Le Hong Phong Fisheries Cooperative, in 2024, Thong Nhat Cooperative, Dong Mo town, Chi Lang district also "struggled" to overcome difficulties and rise up. Mr. Nguyen Duc Bay, Director of Thong Nhat Cooperative, said: The unit mainly operates in the field of basic construction. In recent years, construction activities have faced a lot of competition from businesses and cooperatives in the same field. Especially in 2024, the rainy weather affected the unit's operations. Faced with that reality, the Cooperative has proactively mobilized internal and external resources to invest in machinery and equipment, and hired highly qualified and experienced engineers and workers to help the Cooperative improve its operational efficiency. At the same time, the Cooperative has proactively and flexibly implemented construction measures to suit weather conditions, thereby ensuring the progress and quality of the projects. On average, each year, the cooperative creates jobs for about 60-100 workers with an income of 5-8 million VND/person/month.
Along with the above 2 cooperatives, many cooperatives in the province have constantly strived to overcome difficulties and improve their production and business activities. According to data from the Provincial Cooperative Union, as of December 2024, the province had 310 cooperative groups, 539 cooperatives registered to operate (of which 456 cooperatives are operating), 3 cooperative unions registered to operate (of which 1 cooperative union is operating). From the beginning of 2024 to now, many cooperatives in the province have proactively mobilized resources to invest in machinery and equipment, expand their scale and production and business lines. At the same time, many cooperatives have promoted the application of information technology and digital transformation in the stages of production, processing, promotion and consumption of products... Typical examples include the Vy Silk Agricultural Products Processing Cooperative, Chi Lang District; Trung Doan Cooperative, Bac Son District; Thanh Loc Cooperative, Loc Binh District; Hoang Trung Agricultural and Forestry Production and Service Cooperative, Lang Son City; Toan Thuong Agricultural Cooperative, Van Lang District...
Synchronize support solutions
In addition to the achieved results, the operation of cooperatives in the province still faces many difficulties such as many cooperatives are small and scattered; lack of capital to invest in expanding production and business; no suitable production and business plans; few high-quality human resources; limited ability to connect to consumer markets... Faced with that reality, relevant levels and sectors have implemented specific solutions to gradually support and remove difficulties for cooperatives. Typically, connecting and consuming products for cooperatives.
In 2024, relevant levels and sectors will continue to implement many solutions to connect and consume products for cooperatives. In particular, at the end of April 2024, the Provincial People's Committee organized a conference to meet and connect to consume products of cooperatives. At the conference, representatives of cooperatives, enterprises and related units discussed and analyzed the limitations in the promotion and connection of product consumption of cooperatives, thereby proposing solutions to overcome them. Also at the conference, representatives of enterprises and cooperatives met, discussed and signed 6 contracts to supply capital and consume products for cooperatives. From there, it helped some cooperatives have a large and stable market for product consumption.
Mr. Ly Minh Hieu, Director of Thanh Loc Cooperative, Loc Binh District, said: The Cooperative mainly operates in the field of raising 6-toed chickens. Through the connection conference, the Cooperative has signed a product consumption contract with 2 large restaurants in Lang Son city. Since the signing, on average, each month, the Cooperative has supplied about 600 meat chickens to the 2 restaurants (it can be higher during peak seasons) with stable prices. With an additional stable consumption market, the Cooperative is confident to focus on the production stage to improve the quality of the Cooperative's chicken products.
Along with organizing conferences to connect product consumption for cooperatives, from the beginning of 2024 until now, the Provincial Cooperative Union has coordinated with relevant agencies to support 16 cooperatives to display, promote and introduce products in Hanoi, Binh Dinh, Thai Nguyen... At the same time, departments, branches, associations, unions, People's Committees of districts and cities have integrated programs to support cooperatives to promote, introduce and connect product consumption in programs both inside and outside the province.
In parallel with supporting product promotion and consumption, in 2024, relevant levels and sectors will also implement a number of solutions to support cooperatives. Mr. Lieu Xuan Du, Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, said: In addition to supporting the consumption of cooperative products, up to now, the Cooperative Development Support Fund (after restructuring in 2024) has supported 25 members of 9 cooperatives and 1 cooperative group to borrow capital with an amount of 2.5 billion VND. Along with that, from the beginning of 2024 to now, the Provincial Cooperative Union has coordinated to organize 26 conferences to propagate collective economy; 3 training courses for cooperatives in the province with contents on governance, operation; control; organize 2 conferences to meet and dialogue with representatives of cooperatives in the province. At the same time, relevant levels and sectors continue to support sending 4 young intellectuals to work at cooperatives; support credit interest rates for 5 cooperatives...
Thanks to the initiative and efforts of cooperatives and the close attention and direction, practical support of relevant levels and sectors, many cooperatives in the province have had positive changes in their operations, thereby making an important contribution to the overall collective economic development in the area. It is estimated that by the end of 2024, there will be 540 cooperatives registered in the province. The average revenue of a cooperative group is estimated at 650 million VND/year; that of a cooperative is estimated at 1.35 billion VND/year, reaching 135% of the plan, an increase of 350 million VND compared to 2023; the income of workers in cooperatives is 5 - 7 million VND/person/month, an increase of 0.5 million VND compared to 2023...
With the support and companionship of relevant levels and sectors, the initiative, efforts and sensitivity of cooperatives, we believe that the collective economic sector and cooperatives in the province will continue to have more obvious changes. From there, it will contribute to the overall socio-economic development in the area.
