Philippines wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all fields

On the morning of May 13, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong received Philippine Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Meynardo Los Banos Montealegre.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong highly appreciated Ambassador Montealegre's positive contributions to promoting the Vietnam-Philippines Strategic Partnership in recent times; emphasized that 2025 is of special significance as it marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Philippines; was delighted with the positive and effective development of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, both within the bilateral and multilateral frameworks; affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to develop relations with the Philippines in a deeper and more comprehensive manner.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong asked the Philippine Ambassador to pay attention to promoting a number of important contents in the relationship between the two countries, including: Strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation through promoting exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; promoting economic connectivity, striving to soon bring the two-way trade turnover to 10 billion USD; strengthening cooperation in the fields of security - defense, maritime and ocean cooperation; promoting cooperation in other fields such as culture, sports, tourism, education and training.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong expressed his belief that the Ambassador will continue to make active contributions to promoting the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Philippines to develop more strongly, comprehensively and substantially, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace , stability and development in the region and the world.

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Montealegre thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong for taking the time to meet him and for his important assessments of the bilateral relationship; shared with the Deputy Minister some outstanding results in bilateral cooperation in recent times; affirmed that the Philippines wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, a close neighbor and important strategic partner of the Philippines; expected and is ready to closely coordinate with Vietnam to organize high-level and all-level visits in the year when the two countries celebrate many important events in bilateral relations.

The Ambassador affirmed that he will do his utmost during his term in Vietnam to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries to develop more deeply, substantially and effectively in all fields, especially in the context of many important events in bilateral relations when in 2025 the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership and in 2026 they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
