Associate Professor, graduated in France, elected as Rector of International University

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Thang, Vice President of University of Technology, was elected President of International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University)

The Board of Directors of the International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University) held a meeting and elected Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Thang as the school's Principal. The meeting took place on January 17 with 15/16 votes in favor.

Previously, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City National University carried out the process of transferring Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Thang, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, to take up his duties at the International University, appointing him to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

According to the procedure, after approval by the Ho Chi Minh City National University Council and consultation with the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University will issue a decision to appoint Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Thang to the position of Rector of the International University.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Thang is an expert in the field of materials technology. He graduated with a PhD in materials science and technology from the CEA Center and the INP Grenoble Institute (France), and was appointed associate professor in 2015. Mr. Thang has held many important positions at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology such as: Head of the Key Laboratory of Ho Chi Minh City National University of Materials Technology, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Materials Technology, Head of the Department of Science, Technology and Projects, etc.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Thang has been approved for the position of Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Vice Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Most recently, the International University was in a state of vacancy for the principal position when only one vice principal was assigned to take charge of the school since September 1 last year. The vice principal in charge of the school is also the only person in the school's Board of Directors after the old principal's term ended at the end of August 2023.
