Leading the Eximbank USA delegation was Mr. John Ahn, Asia- Pacific Business Development Specialist from the Global Business Development division. Also present were representatives from the US Embassy, including the Commercial Counsellor and officials responsible for economic cooperation. On the VIMC side, Deputy General Director Le Quang Trung chaired the meeting and provided an overview of the Corporation, particularly emphasizing its three strategic pillars: port systems, shipping fleet, and supporting logistics services.
The US side highly appreciates Vietnam's growth potential and increasingly important role in the global maritime supply chain. Mr. John Ahn stated that Eximbank USA is committed to supporting American businesses interested in investing in Vietnam and will explore the possibility of providing financial support for key import-export projects and port infrastructure development. He also noted the positive impression of VIMC's proactive and transparent provision of information, which lays the foundation for building trust in long-term cooperation.
Representatives from the U.S. Embassy expressed support for the efforts to connect and cooperate between VIMC and Eximbank USA, and pledged to act as a bridge to promote deeper discussions with potential partners in the future. Both sides also agreed to maintain regular communication channels and work towards establishing formal memoranda of understanding on cooperation based on respect, efficiency, and mutual development.
Subsequently, the delegation visited and worked with the leadership of Cai Lan International Container Port (CICT). The guests expressed their admiration for CICT's modern infrastructure, professional operational procedures, and efficient cargo handling capabilities.
This working session is a practical result of the Vietnamese delegation's trip to the United States, led by Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan, demonstrating the effective connection between policy-making and businesses. VIMC expects that, with the support of international financial institutions and strategic partners from the United States, investment plans to develop the national logistics ecosystem and port infrastructure will continue to be promoted in the coming period, contributing to the sustainable development goals of Vietnam's maritime industry.
