Vinh Khanh Snail Street in Ho Chi Minh City is in the top 31 most attractive streets in the world.

The streets honored are not the bustling avenues or familiar shopping streets, they are the "backyards" - where people really live, eat, play and tell the city's story.

To compile this year's rankings, British magazine Time Out gathered nominations from its global network of editors, then evaluated each street based on five criteria: food - drink - culture - entertainment - community spirit. The result is 31 streets with very unique personalities.

Topping the list is Rua do Senado (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), a 117-year-old street revitalized by artisan bars, art markets, and fiery samba shows. Coming in second is Orange Street (Osaka, Japan), where visitors shop for vintage goods while enjoying piping hot takoyaki. Coming in third is Rua do Bonjardim (Porto), which scores points for its vintage grocery stores, family-run restaurants, and hotels housed in former soap factories.

Among the 31 names on the list, the appearance of Vinh Khanh snail street (Khanh Hoi ward, Ho Chi Minh City) attracts the attention of tourists coming to Vietnam. Vinh Khanh is a familiar street for the people of Ho Chi Minh City, but it surprises the world with its vibrant, dusty and full of life look.

Located right next to Calmette Bridge, not far from Nguyen Thai Binh Street, Vinh Khanh used to belong to the old District 4, now Khanh Hoi Ward - once famous for its roughness. Since 2018, Vinh Khanh has become a culinary city, called by Time Out "the soul of street food in Ho Chi Minh City".

Dozens of seafood restaurants have sprung up along the 1km-long street. In the afternoon, the fire pits are blazing, the fragrant smell of garlic butter wafts into the air, and the noisy, bustling atmosphere permeates the space.

From dusk until dawn, the street almost never sleeps. On the sidewalks, plastic tables and chairs are spread out, office workers gather, groups of young people eat snails all night, and street music echoes among the motorbikes that weave through like flowing water. In particular, some street artists perform right in the middle of the street, creating a very "Saigon" scene - chaotic but charming.

Time Out highly appreciates the snail shops here, especially Oc Oanh - a restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide 2024, making the street's reputation reach international levels.

Meanwhile, Oc Vu is the most fun choice. Here, drinking beer is not just drinking - it is a "ritual". Customers will smash empty beer cans under the table, so that the staff can count the cans to calculate the bill, creating a very real and fun atmosphere.

Then, just a few steps away is Xom Chieu market - open from 4am, selling everything from fruits, fabrics to cool fruit desserts. A glass of iced milk coffee here is the perfect way to greet a new day.
