ESPN said Monterrey are in talks to extend Ramos' contract, which expires at the end of the year. The Spanish star joined the Mexican club in February and quickly became a leader in the defense, scoring two goals in 15 Liga MX games.
Sharing about Ramos' future, President Jose Antonio Noriega confirmed: "We are talking. That is completely normal. I do not want to go into details because the most important thing right now is to prepare for the difficult match with América."
Ramos himself has repeatedly expressed his desire to continue playing for Monterrey. Last month, he shared: "My contract expires in December, but I hope I can stay. My family and I feel very happy here. Mexico is a country that has given me a great welcome, and Rayados is a project with great potential."
If he signs an extension, Ramos will likely continue playing until he turns 40 on March 30, 2026, a milestone that proves the longevity of one of the world's top central defenders.
Ramos has amassed a huge collection of trophies while playing in Europe, including 4 Champions Leagues, 5 La Ligas and a host of other trophies. With the Spanish national team, he won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2008 and 2012.
Before arriving in Monterrey, Ramos played for PSG but did not stay for too long.
