Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long inspected the disaster recovery situation in Gia Lai province.

(gialai.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of November 21, at the Provincial Party Committee Office, the Government's working delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, worked with Gia Lai province on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the province. Working with the working delegation were comrades: Thai Dai Ngoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Tuan Anh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

Reporting at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that from the beginning of November 2025 until now, Gia Lai province has continuously suffered "double natural disasters" due to the impact of storm No. 13 (KALMAEGI), the strongest storm ever to make landfall in the province, and heavy rains and especially large floods right after the storm. Natural disasters have caused particularly serious damage to people, property, infrastructure and people's lives in the province. The estimated damage of the two natural disasters is about 7,000 billion VND.

To promptly support the stabilization of life and production, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have focused on directing the urgent overcoming of storm consequences, with the spirit of: "The most urgent, most drastic, with the top goal of quickly stabilizing people's lives; ensuring that people do not go hungry, cold, or have no place to live; patients are treated promptly and students return to school soon"; declaring a natural disaster emergency in 65 communes and wards that were severely damaged; issuing a letter calling on the whole province to join hands to overcome storm consequences.

The province has also provided emergency support to affected households and ensured social security, including 60 million VND/house for households whose houses have collapsed; food, clean water, medicine, and temporary accommodation for households that have lost their homes, poor households, and vulnerable groups. Households that have lost their homes are reviewed and resettled safely according to regulations.

In addition, the province decided to support 15 kg of rice/person/month, for 3 months, for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households; support for poor, near-poor and especially disadvantaged households whose houses were flooded with 2 million VND/household/month, for 3 months.

Together with the local government, the functional forces have been urgently deploying rescue, relief and helping people overcome the consequences. The whole province mobilized more than 20,000 officers, soldiers and local forces to support the repair of medical stations, schools, public works, houses for people, cleaning the environment,... helping people to soon stabilize their lives.

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc thanked the Government, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long for their timely attention and direction in responding to natural disasters.

Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc said that the province is actively stabilizing housing for people in disaster-hit areas; restoring infrastructure, environmental sanitation, disease prevention, etc. He requested that military and police forces continue to pay attention and mobilize maximum forces to support localities and people.

Sharing the local losses, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long wished Gia Lai province to "stand firm and overcome the losses caused by natural disasters" soon.

Regarding the immediate tasks, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested Gia Lai province to continue to seriously implement the Prime Minister's instructions and dispatches, most recently the dispatch No. 225/CD-TTg dated November 20, 2025, requesting ministries, branches and localities to focus on responding to and overcoming the consequences of extremely heavy rain and floods in the Central region. Use the Government's emergency support to solve urgent and immediate priority problems. Mobilize maximum resources to promptly provide food, foodstuffs, necessities and clean water to people; absolutely do not let people lack shelter, go hungry or lack water for daily life. Continue to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of rain and floods in the coming days, information on reservoir regulation warnings, risks of floods, inundation, flash floods, landslides; provide timely and complete information to agencies, units and people in the area to proactively prevent. Focus on mobilizing maximum forces and resources to urgently clean up the environment, handle waste, disinfect and prevent epidemics immediately after the flood recedes. Proactively restore essential conditions immediately, ensure medical facilities operate safely to serve medical examination and treatment for the people; create conditions for students to return to school soon.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the need to develop a comprehensive plan to arrange and stabilize residents in disaster-prone areas in the province in order to proactively prevent and combat natural disasters in a fundamental, long-term, and sustainable manner.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long acknowledged the province's recommendations and will synthesize and report to the Government for timely support for the locality; at the same time, he requested the province to continue to fully synthesize the situation and damage caused by natural disasters in the past time in the province.

Before the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long visited, shared and encouraged people in Luat Le village, Tuy Phuoc commune to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives. The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the proactive and drastic actions of the local government in responding to natural disasters, especially in evacuating people to safe places; and the cooperation of the people in complying with the government's evacuation policy. Thereby, helping to minimize damage caused by natural disasters in the province.

The Deputy Prime Minister visited and encouraged the staff and residents of the SOS Children's Village Quy Nhon; at the same time, requested the authorities and functional forces to continue actively supporting the SOS Children's Village to overcome the consequences, clean up, and stabilize the lives of the families in the Village.
