Through stories about sophisticated tricks used by criminals to lure, deceive, and intimidate children through social networks, over 300 students learned about the concept and common forms of child sexual abuse; the current state of internet use among students, the benefits as well as the potential risks, and unpredictable consequences of unselective and improper use. They were equipped with forms, preventive measures, and what to do when being abused through social networks. At the same time, they participated in giving suggestions to solve hypothetical situations of child sexual abuse that may be encountered in reality. Through the communication session, students understood the need to equip themselves with skills to use social networks intelligently and safely; and memorized the two toll-free hotline numbers for national child protection 111 and the City Social Work Center 18008065.
According to Mr. Ho Thanh Hai, Director of the City Social Work Center, in May 2025, the Center will coordinate with secondary schools to focus on communicating knowledge and skills to students on preventing and combating social evils, crimes, fraud in cyberspace, school violence; behavioral culture in schools and on social networks.
