According to Wanderlust, Vietnam also has pristine lands where people can face nature with all respect and explore with their survival instinct.
Phong Nha - Ke Bang has more than 400 pristine caves.
Hidden deep in the primeval forest of western Quang Binh, Phong Nha - Ke Bang is a complex of limestone mountains and cave systems hundreds of millions of years old. There are more than 400 caves, surveyed over 220km in length, with complex geological structures, underground rivers, stalactites, closed ecosystems and huge underground spaces. But perhaps the biggest symbol is Son Doong Cave, the largest cave in the world , discovered by Mr. Ho Khanh, a local resident, in 1990 and officially explored in 2009.
Adventure tourism here is not just a sport , it is a form of slow living, connecting, and exploring the inner world through the vastness of nature. Visitors can kayak in Phong Nha cave, walk through Sinh Ton valley, cross the cold, rushing water in En cave, sleep overnight in the absolute darkness of the underground and wake up to the sound of bats flapping their wings like underground waves,... Wanderlust describes.
This is where the phone cannot reflect images but memories.
In 2024, scientists discovered many new species in the area, a proof that Phong Nha - Ke Bang is not only a legacy of the past but also a living laboratory, a land with many things yet to be named. With 154 species of mammals and 314 species of birds, the ecosystem here still operates in a very unique order as if it had never been disturbed.
Wanderlust also mentioned other adventure destinations in Vietnam such as trekking in Sa Pa, diving in Nha Trang or crossing the waterfall in Da Lat, but only Phong Nha - Ke Bang is called a "wonder of the living world", where nature has not been tamed, where people come to learn humility.
Son Doong Cave is the largest in the world.
