Phu Quoc needs to apply green tourism model, sustainable development

Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang) is currently a leading tourist destination for domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, Phu Quoc applying a green tourism model will help this island develop sustainably.

On March 28, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee - had a working session with Vinfast Production and Trading Joint Stock Company on accompanying the province in green transformation and growth.

Accordingly, Mr. Nhan requested Vinfast Production and Trading Joint Stock Company to support the development of a green transformation project in the province.

In particular, the company needs to attach the goal of implementing widely in Phu Quoc City to apply the green tourism model, sustainable development. Then build a green transformation project for the remaining islands.

" Kien Giang commits to creating favorable conditions for land funds to serve the installation locations of charging stations, public transport and tourist vehicles; accompanying and supporting the company in implementing green transformation and growth in the province. Relevant departments and branches closely coordinate and provide necessary information and data for the company to develop the project," Mr. Nhan emphasized.

Vinfast Production and Trading Joint Stock Company said that Kien Giang has the potential to develop marine and island ecotourism, especially Phu Quoc because this is Vietnam's top destination attracting many international tourists.

The deployment of electric buses, green public transport vehicles and the development of charging station infrastructure not only helps reduce carbon emissions, but also helps Kien Giang become a leading province in green transport and tourism development.

Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee added that the province has 510 electric taxis, including: Rach Gia City has 150 cars, Phu Quoc City has 360 cars and 36 electric buses operating in the transport business with 3 routes: Ganh Dau - Duong Dong; Duong Dong - Bai Vong and Duong Dong - Duong To.

Personal electric vehicles are also popular and widely used by local people.
