Duong family temple - the most beautiful ancient house in Tay Do

Duong family temple or more familiarly known as Binh Thuy ancient house (No. 142/144 Bui Huu Nghia street, Binh Thuy ward, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city ) is the most beautiful ancient house in the Southwest region. The beauty of the house's Eastern and Western architecture has made it the setting for many famous domestic and foreign films.

The house was built in 1870, so it is now 154 years old. The owner is Mr. Duong Chan Ky - a wealthy landowner who is very fond of antiques.

The house has 5 rooms, with two entrances in the front, including two steps leading up to the main room - a typical French architectural style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The exterior architecture is Western but the interior of the house is full of Eastern style. The lim wood tables and chairs are still intact with delicate mother-of-pearl inlays.

The house is decorated with many antiques, which are the owner's passion.

One of the unique features of the house is that it is not made of cement but of lime mortar. The floor is covered with a 10cm thick layer of sea salt to prevent termites and keep the house cool and dry.

The gramophone plays records covered in dust from time.

Because it was the setting for famous films such as "Cong Tu Bac Lieu", "Nguoi Dep Tay Do", "Nhung Duong Phu Sa", especially the world famous film "Nguoi Tinh", the house attracts many foreign tourists to visit and learn.
