PSG tops group, Atletico eliminated from FIFA Club World Cup

(Dan Tri) - In Group B of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup taking place on the morning of June 24, PSG won the top spot after defeating Seattle Sounders while Atletico sadly was eliminated despite defeating Botafogo 1-0.

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are showing inconsistent form and they are being doubted in the match against Seattle Sounders. The American representative entered the match quite confidently and played fairly with the reigning Champions League champions.

In the 19th minute, goalkeeper Donnarumma made a risky move and lost the ball, causing the reigning Champions League champions to almost concede a goal. PSG played stalemately and did not create any chances in the first 25 minutes.

In the following minutes, PSG increased the pressure and found a lucky opening goal. Vitinha's shot from the second line seemed to go wide of the goal, but the ball bounced off Kvaratskhelia's back and changed direction to beat goalkeeper Frei, giving PSG a 1-0 lead.

Seattle Sounders pushed up their attack formation, exposing many loopholes. In the 66th minute, Doue sent a pass that eliminated the Seattle Sounders defense for Barcola to run down. PSG maintained their overall victory until the end of the match and with this result, the French representative won first place in Group B and won a ticket to the 1/8 round of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. In the same match, PSG beat Seattle Sounders 2-0. Atletico Madrid finished their journey at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in 3rd place on the rankings, with the same 6 points as Botafogo and PSG but with a lower goal difference.
