On May 26, the Paris Court of First Instance ruled to cancel the order to freeze 55 million euros from PSG's account. This is the amount that Mbappe asked his former team to pay in a dispute that has lasted for more than half a year.
Mbappe had previously accused the French capital club of failing to fulfill its contractual payment obligations. Last October, the French Football Federation (LFP) Appeals Committee sided with Mbappe in the case. However, PSG immediately responded by stating that they would not comply with the decision and would take the case to a higher court.
To protect his rights, Mbappe has hired a team of three lawyers specializing in criminal, labor and litigation. The Real Madrid star also hopes UEFA will ban PSG from future European competitions if the case is successful.
However, the latest ruling from the Paris Court of First Instance has overturned the blockade, creating a major turning point in the dispute between the player and the club.
On May 13, PSG countersued Mbappe and demanded that the French striker pay up to 100 million euros in compensation. The Ligue 1 champions cited the player as damaging the club's image and repeatedly delaying providing evidence. PSG also stressed that the goal was not to recover 98 million euros, but to prove the French striker wrong.
With this new ruling, PSG can breathe a sigh of relief, but the legal battle between the two sides still has many surprises in the future.
