Speaking at the Decision Announcement Ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said, the Ceremony to Announce the Decision to recognize the Director of the National Economics University for the 2021-2026 term is an important event, a step in the transition of the leadership generation in the journey of strong and sustainable development of the National Economics University.
After nearly 70 years of construction and development, the National Economics University has become one of the leading centers for training, research, economic policy consulting and management in the country; having a profound influence on the development of the capital, localities and many important sectors and fields. This is the dream school of hundreds of thousands of students each year, and is also the cradle that trains many talented leaders, managers, good scientists and successful businessmen.
National Economics University is a successful model of a comprehensive autonomous university, with widespread impact and large, positive influence on the entire Vietnamese higher education system.
During the last term, the school has made many breakthrough developments in terms of scale, training quality, scientific research, knowledge transfer, internationalization and innovation of university values. Training programs have been modernized in line with international standards and labor market requirements.
In particular, an important historical milestone is that the school was approved by the Government to transform its model from a college to a university - a testament to the outstanding academic growth, autonomy and aspirations of all staff, lecturers and students.
Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son emphasized: “University education in general and key universities such as the National Economics University in particular must be centers for training high-quality human resources for the fields of Economics, financial management, technology, and public policy; must be places to produce and spread new knowledge leading to innovation in economic thinking and development models; must be important academic and policy partners of the State, businesses, and society; must deeply integrate internationally in terms of academia, representing Vietnamese universities in the region and globally.”
From those requirements and expectations, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son requested the National Economics University to continue to promote its pioneering role in innovating training programs and methods. Associated with digital transformation, applying artificial intelligence, promoting scientific research, innovation, business cooperation and internationalization, expanding development space.
Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son shared that the new Director of the National Economics University - Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong is a person who grew up at this very school, received thorough training, had rich practical work experience and held many important management positions. Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong is a person who deeply understands the value system and development aspirations of the National Economics University, and at the same time has a reformist, open-minded and decisive mindset.
The fact that Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong was entrusted with the position of University Director is not only a testament to his personal capacity, but also demonstrates the solidarity and great expectations of the school community and the trust of the state management agency.
“In his new position, I expect Mr. Bui Huy Nhuong to inherit the core values that have been built over many terms; promote governance innovation, modernize the university model, promote autonomy along with social responsibility. At the same time, build a team of professional, dedicated, and capable lecturers and staff; create a dynamic, innovative and creative academic and startup ecosystem, and arouse the spirit of openness and citizenship in each student,” Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son expressed.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong - the new Director of the National Economics University also expressed that becoming the Director of the National Economics University is a great honor, but also a challenging responsibility. He affirmed that he will strive to contribute with all his intelligence, enthusiasm and spirit of service to respond to the trust of the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as the love and trust of generations of leaders and the school's teaching staff.
“I believe that, with the determination, solidarity and unanimity of the school’s teaching staff, we will follow in the footsteps of previous generations to build the National Economics University into a research-oriented university, among the top 5 universities in Vietnam and strive to be in the top 100 best universities in Asia, with a high ranking on the World Rankings”, said Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong.
