Vietnam's Golden Ball Women are eager to participate in the Asian Futsal Tournament

The reigning Vietnamese Women's Golden Ball winner Tran Thi Thuy Trang could not hide her excitement when participating in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship for the first time.

On the afternoon of May 6, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had their final training session to prepare for the opening match against Hong Kong in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship taking place at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (May 7) in China.

The training session was held at the same time as the match to help the players get used to it and achieve their best condition. Although the cold weather (about 12 degrees Celsius) somewhat affected their physical condition, the whole team still maintained a high spirit of determination.

In addition to 8 players who have been trained in futsal, the Vietnamese women's futsal team participating in the Asian tournament also has 6 players currently playing on the field. Among them is midfielder Tran Thi Thuy Trang (HCMC Women's Club) - the current "Vietnam Women's Golden Ball 2024".

Sharing at the training session, Thuy Trang expressed her pride in wearing the Vietnamese women's futsal team's jersey and said she will fight her best in her first futsal competition in the continental arena.

"I have participated in many Asian finals in football, but this is the first time I have participated as a futsal player. I am very excited and proud to be here. Hopefully my teammates and I will have a good performance," said the 37-year-old.

Thuy Trang also admitted that the differences between futsal and 11-a-side football, from field size to tactics, caused her many difficulties.

"However, I received a lot of support from the coaching staff and teammates to integrate and improve every day," Thuy Trang added.

Regarding opponent Kong Kong, Thuy Trang commented: "I have never faced this team, but through watching the video , I can see that they have made a lot of progress.

However, I believe if the whole team plays at their best, we can absolutely win.

I come to the tournament with pride as a Vietnamese woman, ready to compete with all my might and hoping to contribute to the team's success."

Vietnam futsal team captain makes history

On the homepage of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) today (May 6), captain Trinh Nguyen Thanh Hang was recognized by the AFC as the first Vietnamese player to participate in 3 final rounds of the Asian Women's Futsal Championship.

This is a proud historical milestone for Vietnamese women's futsal in general and Thanh Hang in particular. It is also a motivation for Thanh Hang and her teammates to strive to compete well in the tournament, thereby winning 1 of 3 tickets to the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup taking place at the end of the year in the Philippines.
